Chantel Frost is an Adelaide based Emerging Artist, completing the Bachelor of Contemporary Art at the University of South Australia in 2020 and currently studying a Post Graduate Diploma/Masters of Design at UniSA.

Her unique artwork is not confined to one medium, but rather, she chooses to combine a variety of disciplines and mediums to achieve desired outcomes.

Her work quite often captures a balance between a serious social commentary and the comedic. She conveys her observations of human nature and the world, through capturing vulnerable moments in a dark, yet playful way, embracing abstract beauty and aiming for technical precision.

Her passion to design and create, stems from endless hours of tinkering in her Dad’s shed as a child, to a curiosity of 1920s Surrealism, in particular, the detailed work of Dali, Miro, and Margritte. Applying the combination of dreamlike landscapes and whimsical narratives, with the contrast of explored and developed ideas, Chantel allows herself flexibility to express herself through her work.

Her work includes jewellery design and manufacture, hot glass blowing, kiln formed glass, ceramics, black and white photography, product and furniture design. She is passionate about making functional pieces, while still possessing the unmistakable qualities that emerge within her work.

Originally from Mount Gambier, South Australia, Chantel delved into many forms of Art expression including visual art, performance art, theatre and vocal performance.  In 1995 she was the highly commended student entry in the Blue Lake Festival Art Exhibition at the Riddoch Art Gallery.

Fast forward through a life of babies and motherhood, her love for music and the arts reignited through performing in the Adelaide Fringe Festival with the GOSPO Collective 2017, 2018 and 2019 and WOMAD in 2018, with Mama Kin Spender.

In 2017 and 2018, she was awarded the University of South Australia, Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation, and in 2019 received a Merit Award.
